Description
Chicago and North Western Railroad Bridge in Pierre, South Dakota, at sunset – digital painting made from a photo where I made some small edits and I added oil painting texture. The Chicago and North Western Railroad Bridge in Pierre, South Dakota, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was the first permanent crossing of the Missouri River in central South Dakota, reshaping regional connectivity. The Pennsylvania through truss bridge spans 2,200 feet with a distinctive swing span, the only surviving one in South Dakota. Built in 1906-1907, it linked the Chicago and Northwestern line with the Pierre, Rapid City, and Northwestern railroad in Fort Pierre.
