Description
Chicory flowers, cichorium intybus, in the grass – digital painting made from a photo where I made some small edits and I added painting texture. Chicory flowers are in bloom, standing out amongst a backdrop of wild, dry grass and green stems. The vibrant petals are accentuated by the surrounding muted tones, creating a striking contrast. Common chicory (Cichorium intybus) is a woody, perennial herb in the Asteraceae family, typically with bright blue flowers, sometimes white or pink. Native to Europe, it has spread to the Americas, Asia, and Australia. Cultivated for salad leaves, chicons, or roots, it’s also used as a coffee substitute and food additive. Chicory root is a source of inulin, used as a sweetener and dietary fiber. The plant grows up to 1.5 meters tall with tough, hairy stems and lanceolate leaves.
