Description
Door of Matthias Corvinus House (Romanian: Casa Matia, Hungarian: Mátyás király szülőháza) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, blended on old paper. The Matthias Corvinus House, built in the 15th century in Gothic style, is one of Cluj-Napoca's oldest buildings. It has served as a guesthouse, jail, hospital, and museum, and is now a visual arts institute. King Matthias Corvinus, son of John Hunyadi, was born here in 1467. The house was originally owned by Jakab Méhffi, a wealthy wine-grower and merchant, who received tax exemption from King Matthias. Since 1950, it has been owned by the Art and Design University of Cluj-Napoca.
