Description
Kamala Harris as Rosie the Riveter on the “We Can Do It!” famous poster – digital art made from an image of Kamala Harris combined with the famous WW2 poster made by J. Howard Miller. The inspiration for this came from an image with the title “Yes We Kam!”, another portrait of Kamala Harris combined with the image of Rosie the Riveter.
"We Can Do It!" is an American World War II poster produced by J. Howard Miller in 1943 for Westinghouse Electric to boost female worker morale. It was little seen during the war but was rediscovered in the 1980s and widely reproduced, often called "Rosie the Riveter." The image has since been used to promote feminism and other political issues. Initially, it was displayed only internally at Westinghouse in February 1943 to encourage already-hired women to work harder. In 1994, Geraldine Hoff Doyle mistakenly claimed to be the poster's subject, but the woman in the wartime photograph was later identified as Naomi Parker. The poster is one of the ten most-requested images at the National Archives.
Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20, 1964) is the 49th and current vice president of the United States under President Joe Biden since 2021. She is the first female, African American, and Asian American vice president. A Democrat, she served as U.S. senator from California (2017–2021) and attorney general of California. Harris, born in Oakland, graduated from Howard University and UC Law, San Francisco. She was San Francisco DA and California AG before her Senate tenure. Harris, the presumptive 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, launched her campaign after Biden's withdrawal.
