The Texas State Capitol is located in downtown Austin, and is the capitol and seat of government of the American state of Texas. It was constructed from 1882 to 1888 in the Italian Renaissance Revival–style. The capitol is a roughly rectangular building with a four-story central block, symmetrical three-story wings extending to the east and west, and a dome rising from the center.
