Description
The Carson City Mint in 1866 - old photo blended with old paper texture. The Carson City Mint, a United States Mint branch in Nevada, predominantly minted silver coins, also producing gold coins almost equivalent in value. Operating from 1870 to 1893, it minted coins for 21 years, closing permanently in 1893. Now housing the Nevada State Museum, it initially opened in 1863 but didn't begin operations until 1870, with a hiatus from 1885 to 1889.
