Description
The Centennial Wheel and the Navy Pier Carousel in Chicago - digital painting made from a photo where I made some changes and added a pen sketch effect. The Centennial Wheel debuted in 2016 to honor Navy Pier's 100th anniversary, soaring to nearly 200 feet 50 feet taller than its 1995 predecessor with enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas for year-round rides. Designed by Dutch Wheels, it features 42 gondolas and stands among the six tallest Ferris wheels in the United States. Nearby, the classic carousel adds nostalgic charm. The original carousel, operating since 1995, was dismantled in April 2019 after its mechanism broke in cold weather, and was replaced by a carousel that had previously operated at Dorney Park from 1986 to 2016.
